Hi guys! A few weeks ago my daughter and I have been finishing up our homeschool studies on the eastern hemisphere. (You can read more about our curriculum for 2013-14 here). This has been a fun experience, virtually travelling the world, and I’m glad we had the opportunity to get a “taste” of the different cultures! No pun intended, really.

For our studies in India, we whipped up a batch of Indian Chicken Curry and Saffron Rice. This meal was so delicious that I just had to share it with you!

So here’s our video showing step by step how I pulled this meal together.
Although there were a lot of steps involved and new ingredients I wasn’t familiar with, it still wasn’t so hard. (By the way, if you can’t find the garam marsala in your local grocery, try a health foods store. I found mine at Whole Foods.)

I first started with browning up the chicken and spices along with what little tomatoes I had left over (plus tomato paste). See the full recipe on AllRecipes.com here.

Here is my saffron rice in the beginning stages. Who would have thought of sauteeing rice before you actually cook it?
